Thank you for your interest in our Junior Ballet Ensemble!
The Junior Ballet Ensemble (JBE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which was created in 1997 with the following mission: to provide its underprivileged and under-served target population with a beautiful and enriching cultural experience and appreciation for the creative and expressive art of dance, while also promoting an engaging and meaningful dialogue between the performers and their audience. And perhaps as importantly, the JBE experience provides for the young student performers a greater understanding of, and appreciation for, their fortunate and relatively privileged place in society, and perhaps an awareness of a moral obligation to serve the less fortunate in their community. At any given time, there are approximately twenty-five dedicated young volunteer dancers (Intermediate levels and up), involved in JBE, as well as a host of parents who assist the program in bringing about these joyful outreach experiences several times a year. As a non-profit program, JBE’s volunteer outreach services are dependent upon charitable donations from the community, particularly the philanthropic-minded and those with an appreciation and affinity for the performing arts, to fulfill its special mission. In that vein, the JBE welcomes volunteers to assist in a variety of ways, especially at this time in the areas of fund development and the procurement of dance supplies.
The Jr. Ballet Ensemble is partially funded by the County Board of Supervisors at the recommendation of Supervisor Pam Slater-Price.
